Standard program 
Visit of Noreen’s Lapidary training workshop with an introduction to the geology of Tanzania. Followed by a field trip to Morogoro with its Spinel and sunstone mines and then the Umba Valley gemstone mines in Tanzania. Where you dig for sapphires during a few days and learn about the particularities of the local geology. A group of miners will assist us. All the stones you find are yours to keep.

Visit Arusha and the Tanzanite mines in Merelani. See more gemtraders and the northern animal parks Tarangire and Lake Manyara and the nearby emerald and alexandrite mine.Total 17 days

We provide:

  • The stones you find are yours to keep. We negotiate and cover the necessary mining fees.
  • Guides with a solid mineralogical and gemological background.
  • Transportation including airport transfer, Hotel and breakfast during the entire Gemstone Safari.
  • A team of cooks will take care of our 3 meals a day at the Umba Valley mine.
  • And we have 9 self-contained double rooms at our disposal.
  • Experienced miners, who will assist you on the mining sites.
  • The necessary mining equipment is put at your disposal.
  • We organize the necessary paperwork for export of all stones, minerals or cut gems.
  • And last but not least, expect to travel on rough roads and some nights with only basic facilities.
